Fascinating journey of fragrances with Simone Andreoli

PULSE OF PERFUMERY

I was recently invited to an event hosted by Pulse of Perfumery to take us through a fascinating olfactive journey of fragrances with Italian perfumer Simone Andreoli. Pulse of Perfumery (POP) is a fragrance boutique based in Knutsford and it was voted one of the Top 5 scent destinations in the UK. The boutique stocks luxury fragrances like Hermes, Cha

nel, Acqua di Parma etc but its actually the rare, artisan fragrance houses expertly created by POP that have resulted in receiving great accolades.

POP was established by Peter Murray and Melaine Seddon around 8 years ago and they always searched for niche and unique fragrances to bring to their clients. A great example of this is when they met Simone Andreoli at PITTI FRAGRANZE. His collection was quickly secured for POP and it remains hugely popular with POP’s clientele.

Simone Andreoli is the youngest nose in Italy! Moreover its a name that defines olfactory compositions with memories of distant lands, imprinting reflections of a travel journal into every perfume. His life events inspire him to bring  individuality and uniqueness to every scent.

THE EVENT

The event took place at the Vermillion Studios and a few other Specialist Knutsford businesess took part too. These businesess included The Cheese Yard, The Real Fruit Creamery and Morgan Edward Wines. The artwork was especially spectacular and it set the mood for the evening. For the first 45 minutes we admired the beautiful artwork and munched on the delicious cheese selection.

Another beautiful piece.

Subsequently we were taken along a fascinating olfactive journey through a unique collection of fragrances. The journey came alive by the very entertaining Peter Murray, owner Pulse of Perfumery and the youngest nose in Italy and the man himself, Simone Andreoli.

Furthermore Simone Andreoli talked us through how he became a perfumer at the age of 19 and all the events in his life that inspired his perfume collection. We were given spills of his perfumes and a couple of them were accompanied by the tastiest gelato from The Real Fruit Creamery. The gelato undoubtedly provided us with an amazing and enhanced olfactive experience to feel and remember Simone’s perfumes by.

SCENTS FROM THE EVENT

The Malibu Gelato that tasted heavenly.
MALIBÙ – PARTY IN THE BAY

This scent was accompanied by a lime and coconut gelato created especially for the event by The Real Fruit Creamery. The gelato was delicious and I have never tasted anything like this before. It tasted exactly like the scent very similar to eating the Malibu fragrance but a delicious version of it. This fragrance is so unique, to date I have never seen a fragrance like this. Its a very sweet fragrance with Lime and Coconut notes that really stood out to me.

Fragrance : Citrus / Gourmand
Key notes: Lime, Coconut, Sugar, Rum

Simone Andreoli’s Inspiration for this fragrance is  a party at the sunset in the Malibu bay sipping a long drink, immersing in colours and music.

SENTOSA – THE NIGHT ESCAPE

This fragrance is spicy, woody and oriental with sandalwood, cinnamon and patchouli notes that really stand out to me.

Fragrance : Oriental
Key notes: Pink Pepper, Ginger, Vanilla, Patchouli, Ambergris.

Simone Andreoli’s Inspiration for this fragrance is a Stopover to Singapore which is a place between tradition and futurism. Also it represents an erotic and seductive fragrance which has the taste of two lovers in a night of passion.

SMOKE OF GOD

This fragrance is dark and balsamic, it open with the somalian incense which is the note that is more obvious to me. Its a unique blend and when I heard his inspiration for this scent, it totally made sense to me.

Fragrance: Balsamic – Incense
Key notes : Oman Incense, Elemi, Absinth, Cashmere, Leather.

Simone Andreoli’s Inspiration for this fragrance is a Night time journey in the Oman desert. In this case the Oman Desert is the chosen land for the production of the most prestigious incense in the world. Smoke of God is the celebration of the most exclusive and pure incense enriched by absinth and cashmere notes.

DONT ASK ME PERMISSION

This fragrance is a beautful mix of floral, oriental and fruity notes. This one is my second favourite and it was accompanied by a passionfruit gelato. It opens up sweet with notes of lime, sweet orange and sugar but the passionfruit, peach and ylang-ylang balance it out.

Fragrance: Oriental/Fruity
Key notes: Lime, Sugar, Passionfruit, Ylang-ylang, Sandalwood, Amber, cachaça

Simone Andreoli’s Inspiration for this fragrance is  an infusion of impudent beauty and cheeky femininity which flood in the pleasure of the wildest nights of Rio de Janeiro.

PACIFIC PARK

Finally this fragrance was my favourite of all and I ended up purchasing a 100ml bottle right at the end. Its a floral sweet fragrance but with vanilla and white musk to balance the floral and sweetness out so its not too overpowering.

Fragrance: Floral/Sweet

Key notes: Mandarin, Pear, Blackcurrant, Caramel, Lily of the Valley, Vanilla and White Musk.

Simone Andreoli’s Inspiration for this fragrance is the Rediscovered sensations of a lightweight childhood. It is just like a child that follows each carousel. Also like a child who plays without worrying and who ate candies.

FINAL THOUGHTS

To summarize they hosted the event very well and it was an amazing experience to be able to go through a fascinating  journey of fragrances with Simone. Apart from this his insights into the thought process behind his unique blends were very interesting. Last but not least, Simone Andreoli finished off the night and gifted the attendees a special scent he had created just for the night. There are only 100 bottles of this scent in the world. His intention behind this special gift was for us to be able to capture that moment and remember it through the scent. Pulse of Perfumery created special goody bags with this scent.
