Ramadan Advent Calendar And Ramadan Basket

Ramadan Advent Calendar and Ramadan Basket.

Since Ramadan is round the corner, every year me and my daughter make a Ramadan Advent Calendar and a Ramadan Basket. This calendar is a really fun way of getting your kids involved and make learning about Ramadan exciting.

Last year we added sweets and a good deed for each day but this year for our Ramadan Advent Calendar we are doing just sweets in the Calendar. I will be printing out a list of good deeds or things to do and my daughter will then pick one each day along with a sweet from the Calendar. This makes this activity a little flexible and slightly different from last year.

Ramadan Advent Calendar

I’ve seen this idea all over Pinterest but I gave it a spin of my own and we did what seemed easy for us. The idea was to make this activity simple but fun for my daughter.

Ramadan Advent Calendar
  • I started off with picking up a branch that we found during school pick up time, next to my car on the road. I’m sure you’ll be able to find some in your local parks.
  • I also picked up some fun gift tape from WHSmith, you can also get washi tape in different colours and designs.
  • Once everything arrived, the first step was to hang the branch with some twine. I hung mine to the wall but you can hand this anywhere.
  • Then we added sweets to the pillow boxes.
  • My daughter used the different gift tapes to make colourful designs on the boxes. We also made RAMADAN letters out of it.
  • After that my daughter punched holes at the top of the boxes and she loved doing this.
  • Then we inserted different sized twine into the boxes and hung the boxes up to the branch.
  • Getting the boxes to align in various lengths took slightly longer but my daughter was very excited to measure the twine and cut it accordingly. I helped her tie the knots on the branch.

Ramadan Basket

I’ve also made a Ramadan basket along with the Ramadan Advent Calendar for my daughter. This basket includes Islamic books, flash cards, Tasbeeh, a prayer mat and other Ramadan activities.

Some of our favourite books are:
  • Migo and Ali
  • Allah made everything
  • Thank you O Allah
  • Islamic Studies by Safar publishing
  • Ramadan Moon

This is a super fun way to get your kids involved and make learning about Ramadan an exciting experience for them. The list of good deeds will help reinforce the principles of Islam. The books will help teach them all about Allah and his Prophets.

Will you be doing anything similar this year? Have you tried making a Ramadan Advent Calendar with your kids? How do you get your kids involved and make learning fun for them?
